Our Experience in Diabetes Testing

The DDL has played an active role in a number of major studies and developments in the field of diabetes:

• We served as the reference laboratory for glycated hemoglobin (GHb) testing in the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT). This landmark study demonstrated a direct relationship between GHb and risks for the development and progression of diabetes complications.
• We served as the central diabetes testing laboratory for the National Health and Nutrition Examination Serveys (NHANES) III and IV.
• The Diabetes Diagnostic Lab currently serves as the administrative core and a major reference laboratory for the NGSP, a program launched in 1996 to standardize GHb testing.
