Glycated Hemoglobin or A1C
The Diabetes Diagnostic Lab is best known for glycated hemoglobin (GHb) testing. GHb, also known as hemoglobin A1c or “the A1C test”, is an important index of average blood sugar used to monitor glycemic control in patients with diabetes. It is also widely used to assess the quality of diabetes care provided to patients and validate the efficacy of new medications for treating diabetes. The DDL has been at the forefront of efforts to standardize and improve the quality of GHb testing.
